Produced by Anele in collaboration with Rai Cinema and in co-production with Istituto Luce Cinecittà and Tenderstories, LA SCELTA DI MARIA is a docufilm by Francesco Micciché on the story of the Unknown Soldier.

The cast includes Sonia Bergamasco, Cesare Bocci and Alessio Vassallo.

Through fictional scenes, original repertoire, interviews and animation, the story behind the birth of the Unknown Soldier is told. 4 November 2021 will be the centenary of the burial of the Unknown Soldier at the Altare della Patria and, thanks to the collaboration of the Ministry of Defence, the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, the Municipality of Aquileia and the Istituto Luce Cinecittà, this project aims to reconstruct the events that led to that moment.

The docufilm will be presented on 24 October at the Rome Film Festival and then will be broadcast on RAI3 in prime time on November 4th on the occasion of the 100th Anniversary of th Unknown Soldier.
