Pet Shop Days, Olmo Schnabel’s directorial debut, will be in competition at the Venice Film Festival 2023, in the Orizzonti Extra category. The film, set in New York, is a romantic thriller about two young boys exploring the city and one other.

And just as John Steinbeck argued that people don’t take trips, trips take people, with Pet Shop Boys, Olmo Schnabel gives us a demonstration: the characters we meet at the beginning of his film, in a never seen New York, will not remain the same at the end of the path. Love, its declinations, adventure, wonder, courage. Schnabel at the age of twenty-five waved courage leading an extraordinary cast in which Jack Irv, Dario Yazbek, Willem Defoe, Emmanuelle Seigner, Camille Rowe and Peter Saarsgard shine.
