September 15th, 2023

Debuting in the World Première, I told you so is the second work by director Ginevra Elkann and as the sole Italian entry among the ten films vying for the Platform Prize at the Toronto Film Festival. This award recognizes films of exceptional stylistic or innovative significance.

In I told you so, Ginevra Elkann takes us to the setting of Rome during a January weekend. What begins as a pleasant arrival of an unusual heatwave slowly turns into a harrowing ordeal, leading to a breakdown in self-control for both humans and animals alike. As the temperature continues to rise, the characters' indulgences escalate, delving into themes they had previously avoided, whether it’s food, sexuality, substances, religion, and romance.

A coral work featuring a rich cast that includes prominent figures like Valeria Bruni Tedeschi, Valeria Golino, Danny Huston, Alba Rohrwacher, Riccardo Scamarcio, Greta Scarano, Marisa Borini, and Greta Scacchi.

The movie's production involves: The Apartment, Tenderstories, Small Forward Productions, and Rai Cinema.
