BEST MOVIE - Cannes Festival 2021: Honorary Palme d'or for Marco Bellocchio and a new film, Marx can wait

June 22nd, 2021

Cannes Film Festival director Thierry Frémaux has announced the Honorary Palme d'or to Marco Bellocchio, which will be awarded at the end of the Festival. The festival will also host the world premiere, in the Special Screening section, of the Piacenza-born master's new film, Marx can wait, which will be released simultaneously in Italy on 15 July, distributed by 01 Distribution.

Through this enigmatically titled documentary, the filmmaker tries to understand, humbly and retrospectively, the suicide of his twin brother at the age of 29. A family tragedy from which he never really recovered, a source of both guilt and inspiration. Mixing excerpts from his films and conversations with people close to him, he thus investigates the brotherly figure who has never ceased to haunt his filmography.
