Following her directorial debut with Amanda, Carolina Cavalli returns with “The Kidnapping of Arabella”, selected for the Orizzonti section of the 82nd Venice International Film Festival, which will take place from August 27 to September 6.
Written and directed by Cavalli herself, the cast includes: Benedetta Porcaroli, who also starred in the director’s previous work, alongside Lucrezia Guglielmino, Chris Pine, Marco Bonadei, and Eva Robin’s.
Produced by Elsinore Film, The Apartment (a Fremantle company), and PiperFilm, in collaboration with Tenderstories, the film is set for theatrical release both in Italy and internationally.
The plot
Holly, 28, has always felt like the wrong version of herself, as if her life had gone off track. When she meets a young girl named Arabella, she becomes convinced she’s found her younger self. Eager to run away from home, Arabella hides her true identity and goes along with Holly’s wish: to go back in time and become someone special.
