David di Donatello 2026: Lino Musella wins Best Supporting Actor for "Nonostante"

At the 71st David di Donatello Awards, Lino Musella wins Best Supporting Actor for Nonostante, the second feature film directed by Valerio Mastandrea. It’s Musella’s first David win, on his second career nomination.

Nonostante is produced by Moreno Zani and Malcom Pagani for Tenderstories, Viola Prestieri and Valeria Golino for HT Film, and Francesco Tatò and Oscar Glioti for Damocle, with the support of Rai Cinema. The film premiered as the opening title of the Orizzonti section at the 81st Venice International Film Festival and is released in Italy by BIM Distribuzione. The cast includes Valerio Mastandrea, Dolores Fonzi, Giorgio Montanini, Justin Alexander Korovkin, Barbara Ronchi, Luca Lionello, and Laura Morante.

The plot: a man in a coma drifts through the corridors of a hospital, invisible to the living, yet able to connect with other patients suspended between their bodies and something beyond. It’s a strange, fragile balance, until a woman injured in a car accident is admitted to what was once his room. And with her comes the question that changes everything: how much, and in what way, do any of us truly want to be here?
