From San Francisco to New York: "Il rapimento di Arabella" takes on the United States

Carolina Cavalli’s Il rapimento di Arabella is making its way through the North American festival circuit. On May 3rd, the film screened at the Premier Theater at One Letterman Drive in San Francisco as part of the 69th edition of the San Francisco International Film Festival, where Carolina Cavalli and Benedetta Porcaroli joined the audience for a Q&A following the screening.

On May 28th, the film moved to the East Coast to open the 25th edition of Open Roads: New Italian Cinema in New York, the annual showcase dedicated to contemporary Italian film for North American audiences.

Carolina Cavalli’s darkly comic road movie follows the unlikely bond between Holly, a restless twenty-something, and young Arabella, a girl Holly becomes convinced is her younger self. The cast features Benedetta Porcaroli, winner of the Orizzonti Award for Best Actress at Venice, alongside Lucrezia Guglielmino, Chris Pine, Marco Bonadei, and Eva Robin’s.

The film’s US journey is far from over: a North American release is set for later this summer, distributed by Oscilloscope Laboratories.
