Soldiers.

It is as/ the autumn/ on the trees/ the leaves

Creative action takes over the use of language, a sophisticated hybrid of the contamination of the languages of art. The dangerous relationship between words and images.

The word seems to expand in a transverse manner and affects the image as a function and as an aggressor. In Cesare Fullone’s exhibition, “Come Farfalle Ferite”, the word is not a random exercise, but a founding element of the poetry itself. Cesare Fullone refers to the existence of areas that depict unpredictability, a chaotic and ungovernable aspect of thoughts, an opportunity to reflect on the difference between the perfect nature of the idea and the irrepressible differences and imperfections that occur in reality. The artist’s idea sparks the process and it is embodied in the multiplicity of images and references that transform the world into an instrument of creation. Animals (I cani- “dogs”), wars (I soldati – “soldiers”), natural phenomena (foglie – “leaves”), intervene to plot the data and the forms for which Cesare Fullone has set the criteria for formalization.

“Perverting common sense, and letting thoughts run outside the ordinary framework of similarities; then it appears as a vertical form for various intensities; in fact the intensity, long before graded by representation, is in itself a pure difference: a difference that moves and repeats itself, a difference that contracts and expands, the singular point that envelopes and unlocks, in its acute event, indefinite repetitions. Thinking is thought as intense irregularities. The dissolution of the self.”

Gilles Deleuze

From a state of order, the art work develops a seemingly regular movement which immediately reveals a chaotic and unpredictable state. Through the use of “words”, the piece expresses moments of great complexity enclosed and translated in simple forms. Cesare Fullone confuses and subverts the concepts of order and disorder, simplicity and complexity, to reveal the fragility and the possibility that one is hidden in other beyond appearances. The codes invented by the artist are locked as in a secret, whose accessibility depends on the possibility of conceiving the underlying order of the form. This secrecy does not necessarily involve an analysis that leads to its discovery, but reveals the positive value of the mystery kept as such. The mystery is in fact the basic element even in actions that are fundamentally rational that part of reality that lies between the lines of codification. To Cesare Fullone, language becomes a poetic reaction to what is happening, and the relationship between words and images depicts the effects of a metaphysical inversion of the event, paradoxical, incorporeal, superficial, while the comparison focuses on the immanent consciousness of the meaning: an example of a realistic experience that I structured through the passage of an anarchic state, spontaneous, non-hierarchical, chaotic, in which an incalculable amount of connections are continuously created. In this exhibition, Cesare Fullone intensifies his focus on language and on the different ways of referring to people, and seemingly wants to “give back”a poetic thought to the audience, despite everything. A “humanity”, despite everything.

And thoughts become poetry and knowledge and questions or scientific law. Many factors come into play, and create in a solemn situation a paradoxical effect, an extreme situation. The texts become a testimony of senses of man, of the different ways that characterize the truth of knowledge and the strength of the aggression.

Cesare Fullone organizes his piece on conflicting elements and so highlights how language can be used and how it is difficult to navigate through a multitude of competing points of view. What is the relationship between images and words? Who “talks”? To whom do we “talk” to? The word, then, is the main theme of the exhibition. A “word” with a strong emotional power, which calls for a more intimate relationship viewer –artist’s piece. The lyrics are a pretext to stop and seize the viewer which is immersed in the crazy regularity of everyday life, a means to reflect on the concept of humanity and to “dive” into a world of effects and relations. Words and texts which envelop theories and poetry, thoughts and knowledge, culture and nature, works of art that prevent empathy with surrounding events, works of art that bring a poetic sense, alive and varied, emotional and intense, crossed by undetectable forces or powers. Art work as an attempt to fill existence with immanence and to express power. Art as a continuum of intensity that applies to itself, in which all forms dissolve in the flux of what it is to come, of pure metamorphosis.
