VENEZIA 79, Luca Guadagnino wins the Silver Lion for Best Director with "Bones and All"

Luca Guadagnino is the only Italian in the Official Selection of the 79th Venice Film Festival to take home an award: the Silver Lion for Best Director for Bones and All. Mostra to take home an award: the Silver Lion for Best Director for Bones and All.

The film, the first shot by the Palermo-born director on American soil, traverses the great plains of the Midwest to follow the gentle drift of two dropouts torn between the need to accept their nature and the fear of fighting it. Guadagnino combines here the two central themes of his cinema – the acceptance of the self, of one’s own uniqueness, and the need to confront one’s own desire with that of the other – with the imagery of a nation and its era.
