Debuting in the World Première, I told you so is the second work by director Ginevra Elkann and as the sole Italian entry among the ten films vying for the Platform Prize at the Toronto Film Festival. This award recognizes films of exceptional stylistic or innovative significance.

In I told you so, Ginevra Elkann takes us to the setting of Rome during a January weekend. What begins as a pleasant arrival of an unusual heatwave slowly turns into a harrowing ordeal, leading to a breakdown in self-control for both humans and animals alike. As the temperature continues to rise, the characters’ indulgences escalate, delving into themes they had previously avoided, whether it’s food, sexuality, substances, religion, and romance.

Con Te l’avevo detto, Ginevra Elkann ci trasporta nella cornice di Roma, in un fine settimana di gennaio. L’arrivo inizialmente piacevole di un’insolita ondata di calore si trasforma gradualmente in un evento spaventoso, provocando la perdita di autocontrollo sia nelle persone che negli animali. E, con l’aumentare della temperatura, crescono anche gli eccessi dei personaggi verso temi che fino ad allora avevano accuratamente evitato, sia che si tratti di cibo, sesso, droga, religione o romanticismo.
