The Plot of The Lord of the Ants

In the late 1960s, playwright and poet Aldo Braibanti was sentenced to nine years in prison on charges of plagiarism, accused of exerting his will over his student and friend both physically and psychologically. Only one journalist committed to uncovering the truth, facing suspicion and censorship.

This accusation actually masked Braibanti’s homosexuality, as he was in a mutual love relationship with his student named Ettore. This was the only case brought to court in 1968 solely due to the love between two men.

The film was shot in the spring of 2021 in Rome, Milan, and various locations in Emilia, including the provinces of Piacenza and Parma, such as San Giorgio Piacentino, Busseto, Roccabianca, Salsomaggiore Terme, and others.

Starring Luigi Lo Cascio, Elio Germano, Sara Serraiocco, Leonardo Maltese, and Anna Caterina Antonacci.
