Marx Can Wait is now streaming on Prime Video and Apple TV
Marx Can Wait, the 2021 documentary film directed by Marco Bellocchio, is now available on Prime Video and Apple TV. The film was presented at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival in the Cannes Première section.
Marx Can Wait is an intimate recounting of a family story that has been a source of pain and inspiration throughout Marco Bellocchio’s entire cinematic career. The documentary focuses on the director’s family, particularly on his twin brother, Camillo, who died on December 27, 1968.
The film delves into the difficult themes of grief and loss but goes beyond that. It is a deeply autobiographical story, yet it aims to be “universal” for two reasons: it offers a reflection on the pain of the survivors and, above all, it explores the desire to hide the truth. Camillo died in the “revolutionary” year of 1968. A year of protests, sexual freedom, the French May, and the invasion of Czechoslovakia. These revolutions passed by Camillo’s life without directly involving him.
A Tenderstories, Kavac Film, and Rai Cinema production.
