Primadonna, a film depicting a tale of courage and female empowerment, will premiere on Sky Cinema for International Women’s Day and will be available for streaming and on-demand on NOW.
The plot of Marta Savina’s film
Sicily, 1960s. Lia, a 21-year-old, works the land with her father. Despite being a “female” and expected by societal norms to stay at home and handle domestic chores with her mother, Lia defies these conventions. She is beautiful, determined, and reserved, with a proud and elusive gaze that captures the attention of Lorenzo Musicò, the son of the local boss. When Lia rejects Lorenzo, his anger quickly ignites, and he forcibly takes what he believes is his right. However, Lia does the unthinkable: she refuses the shotgun wedding and takes Lorenzo and his accomplices to court.
